UF’s Athletic Association partners with Ozean to launch Panoramic Seat Locator

Friday, February 4th, 2011

For the past year, Ozean has waited patiently on the sideline. Our company has continued to workout hard, run stadiums, and focus on what was important…our chance to play the game. Today, on February 4, 2011, we’ve been given the go-ahead. We are no longer sitting on the sideline. Instead, we are in the middle of the action, playing the game!

Ozean partnered with the University of Florida’s Athletic Association to design and develop a Panoramic Seat Locator Application, and now it is live for fans to see and interact with! The Panoramic Seat Locator, now called Total360Sports, is a 360° panoramic virtual tour for sporting venues that shows multiple views within each section of the stadium or arena.

Approximately 12,000 photographs, 3 stadiums, and 612 data points later (not to mention, over 15 pounds of combined weight loss between Lauren Kruglanski and Alex Patton – the majority of which was lost by Alex after doing stadiums a few times to get all of the required photographs), the virtual experience of Total360Sports has launched.

Want to see Ozean’s magic? Curious to get started and find your view from your seat in the stadium? Visit GatorZone’s website!. From that point, you can select which stadium you want to view.

For the University of Florida, we have taken this idea from conception to reality for all three major sports stadiums:

“I love the level of customer service Total360Sports brings to our fans,” said Mark Gajda, Assistant Athletic Director of Ticketing for the University of Florida Athletic Association. “It is very easy to use for any fan, young or old.”

Total360Sports is not only a clean and useful web application, but a practical tool that can be advantageous to your website. Fans can now be even more engaged, since Total360Sports interactive virtual tours uniquely create greater fan interaction and enthusiasm, as well as sales for your business. The Total360Sports web application offers panoramic views comprised entirely of actual photographs, complete with icons that designate men and women’s bathrooms, first aid and wheelchair seating.

Total360Sports has:

  • Immersive 360° panoramas
  • Particular points within each section of the field or court
  • Ability to view panoramas in full-screen mode
  • Ability to zoom in and out of each point in full-screen mode
  • User-friendly interface
  • Branding specifically for your athletics program
  • Ability for fans to compare seats/sections
  • Ability for fans to search the application by entering their section, row, and seat
  • Hotspot icons within the panoramas – men’s restrooms, women’s restrooms, first aid, and telephones
  • Ability to serve ads and update with advertising messages and/or sponsorships

The benefits of these features truly reign supreme. Total 360Sports significantly increases fan engagement and enthusiasm, therefore increasing total time spent on your website. The rewards are immeasurable.

What are some of our favorite points? Lauren’s favorite is center court at the basketball stadium, and Alex has claimed the view from the “F” point at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, taken during the Florida vs. Florida State game in November 2009. Since it was taken during the actual game, the stadium is filled to capacity and Chas Henry is in plain view, looking directly toward our cameraman wondering what on earth he is doing.

At Ozean Interactive, we are thrilled to have been given this opportunity to develop a web application with the Gator Nation, available only at GatorZone.com, the official website of the Florida Gators. It was such an honor partnering with the University Athletic Association since all of us at Ozean Interactive are avid Gator fans.

“We are receiving considerable interest from additional athletic venues, and we look forward to growing this sector of our business; however, being Gator fans we may have to initiate a ‘rival gator fan tax’,” joked Alex Patton. “In all seriousness, we are honored to partner with the Gator Nation; however, in this economy, we would even work with Auburn University. Call us.”

Note: The site has been undergoing a soft launch since Dec, 2010 while in beta testing.

Scroll bar causing website to jump around

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

We have a website in production, and ran into - what happens when you center a website on a large screen and have a mix of pages with long and short content - and it almost caused me to punch the screen.   (noticed it most in Safari).

When moving from pages with short content to long content -  the browser renders the page THEN decides to add a scroll bar.  Thus causing the entire webpage to shift to the left to make room for the scroll bars!  UGH! It almost put me into a seizure.

Three hours of experimenting, searching,  frustration, and I finally found this solution:

Thank you for the most elegant solution I could find:

html { height: 100%; margin-bottom: 1px; }

This trick adds a tiny amount (1 pixel) forcing a scroll bar. So far, i have tested in FF, Chrome, Safari, & Opera, and IE.  Seems to work like a charm!

One line of CSS and problem solved.

Now, I need a new monitor.

How to use HTML5 in your website development today

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

A good article from Infoworld, on how you can start to incorporate HTML5 into your website development today.

What can I do with HTML5, and when can I start using it? The good news is that there’s a lot you can do with HTML5. The better news is that there’s a lot that you can do with HTML5 today.

But first, one major caveat: You need to know your audience, though, of course, this is true whether or not you want to start using HTML5. If the majority of your site’s visitors still use Internet Explorer 6, then you have no reason to rush. On the other hand, if your site is primarily for mobile browsers on iPhones and iPads, what are you waiting for? But if your site falls somewhere in the middle — as most do — here are some handy guidelines to ramping up to HTML5.

17 Google Chrome Extensions for Web Designers and Developers

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

http://designm.ag/resources/chrome-extensions/

Check out this post written by Steven Snell.  Great list of Chrome Plug-Ins.

Firefox is the browser of choice for most designers and developers in part because of the vast selection of add ons that are available. While Chrome does not offer anywhere close to as many extensions (yet), there are still a number that can be very handy for designers and developers. In some cases they are not as robust as the Firefox versions (example, Firebug and Firebug Lite), but if you are using Chrome you may be interested to know about the extensions that are available. Additionally, Chrome comes with some developer tools built in.

Website Launch| Remzey Samarrai | www.remzey2010.com

Ozean Interactive Media announces the launch of another quality web design and web development project www.Remzey2010.com

Republican House Candidate candidate Remzey Samarrai, running in Florida House District 22, wanted a website designed and developed that was different from most politicians’ websites. He wanted it to be visually different, wanted it to include detailed position papers on issues (most politician are afraid to tell you where they stand on the issues, aren’t they?), and wanted it to be simple to maintain.

Mission accomplished - designed differently - check, include issue papers - check, and easy to maintain - check (Ozean placed them in our easy to use, web-based, content management system so that the campaign staff can easily amend and add to the website.)  This project was also designed and developed very quickly. Once the design was approved by the client, the site was developed and launched in approximately 3 days.

Just on a side note, Ozean Consulting is a division of Ozean and is performing the role of general consultant on Remzey Samarrai’s campaign; therefore, in a precautionary move, we will include the Florida required disclaimer: “Paid Political Advertisement, Paid for and approved by Remzey Samarrai, Republican for Florida State House, District 22.”

Ultimate IE6 Cheatsheet from Smashing Magazine Twitter

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

One of my favorite Twitter accounts to follow is @smashingmagazine. LOVE their stuff.

They had a great tweet this morning regarding the mess that is Internet Explorer v6. We have stopped our support of the browser, but you can never quite get away from it.

The article is a comprehensive overview of the challenges of IE6 and should be read by every designer, sales person, and client.
