Web design in Gainesville, Florida? Not today! It is the start of Gator football. See you after the game.

Gainesville, FL:Web Design and Gator football- what that means to web design.

Web Design in Gainesville, FL has it advantages!

Web Design in Gainesville, FL has its advantages!

This web design agency located in Gainesville, FL has access to something that few other web design agencies posses - we have a creative inspiration: a muse if you will.  When we are stuck on a web design or the next creative, big idea - we just pack up and head to gator football practice.  After all, it is right around the corner.  There is something about the click clack of cleats and the whistles that just free the mind.

You must understand, in this web design agency, we are Gator fanatics.  One of our favorites clients?  The Gators.  Not to mention that everyone from the interactive creative director to the website sales people, are proud Gator graduates. We ONCE thought about making an offer to a web design account executive that graduated from Florida State University - but quickly came to our senses. (Something about our lawyer informing Ozean that hiring someone from Florida State University did not “officially meet the definition of an affirmative action plan.” or some-other nonsense. )

On another note, we extend an invitation to all of our friends and past interns that will be making the pilgrimage to Gainesville for a game to stop in.  We miss you.  Let us know you are coming, and we might even make you a margarita.

We have moved to our new location. And since we are so nice, we are even including directions from South Florida & Miami.

Look forward to seeing you, and go GATORS!

Announcing: No more politics on this blog…..

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

As you may know, this agency does some political consulting.  However, we also have several divisions of our company and people in our company that do NOT do politics, political consulting, etc.  Occasionally, others in Ozean’s office have become uncomfortable with my political opinions and have asked me to take them down the hall.

That is exactly what I am going to do.

In the next few months, each one of Ozean’s divisions will launch their own website.  The first to launch is the political consulting division.    You may find the Ozean Political Consulting website here.

This means that all Alex Patton’s political comments will be made on the blog on that site:  the Ozean Consulting blog.

This blog will remain, but will be for you to keep updated on all things digital media - like website design, video on the web, SEO, SEM, and social media.

So, if you are interested in politics - read this blog.

If you are interested in media - continue to read this blog.

Happy Reading.

Ozean’s website person, Lauren Kruglanski, has a PROBLEM!

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

You may know Ozean’s Lauren Kruglanski.

Lauren Kruglanski in better times

Lauren Kruglanski in better times

She is a zealot about customer service, a dyna-mo sales person, a HUGE gator fan, web site expert, SEO guru, and all around great person.

What you may not know, is that Lauren has a serious problem.

In fact, this problem has become so severe that she needs your help.  Yes, Lauren has an addiction.

Lauren is addicted to cupcakes.

She can not see straight unless she gets her fix of icing.  She can not function without her sweets.  She can not operate without the “sweet manna from heaven” as she describes these little morsels of goodness.   It is the female version of Frank the Tank from Oldschool - only replace the beer with cupcakes and you get the picture.

It has gotten so bad, that Lauren even started a blog.  Cupcake Addiction .  Go check it out as she chronicles her saga to kick the habit.

We know the path will be difficult, but Ozean will offer her all the assistance we can.   After all, it is in Ozean’s best interest to help her so that she can continue her stellar record of web site sales.

So, call Lauren and offer her support.  Or better yet, bring her a cupcake and she will SURELY give you a discount on your next custom website.

Thank you BBDO Atlanta - The work - The WORK - THE WORK

Friday, June 11th, 2010

Ozean, the entire company, had a fantastic experience today, and we owe it all to BBDO Atlanta.

This all started with Lauren Kruglanski in our office.  Ozean had the following CRAZY idea: “Let’s see if one of the world’s largest advertising agencies would allow Ozean to come sit with them and pick their brains and ask A LOT of really stupid questions.”  Lauren must have called every advertising agency in the southeast.  Finally, BBDO Atlanta said “sure, come on up!”

From the moment the entire Ozean office (interns and all) stepped off the elevator, we were treated to a first-class experience.  From the electronic signs welcoming Ozean to their buckhead location to the receptionist that greeted us with “You must be Ozean, welcome”, we quickly realized we were in for a fantastic time. The awesome Chief People Officer (Debbie) showed us around and welcomed us with open arms.

We were then invited to have an unrestricted, free-flowing discussion with Rob Cherof (A UF grad-Go Gators), the BBDO Chief Marketing Officer, and Sara Jones, the BBDO Director of Finance and Operations.  I will tell you this - I have not met more straight forward, honest, and great people as these two in the advertising agency business.  They allowed this idiot to ask any question I wanted and they provided us a honest answer.  I can not say enough about Sara’s willingness to share some Best Practices with Ozean, and Rob’s insight into the entire ad agency industry is unmatched.   Having access to these two professionals for an hour is like having a master level’s course for a semester.  Thank you both.

Once Sara and Rob excused themselves, we were treated to a panel discussion of 8 plus people.  They included designers, managers of digital operations, Resource Managers, account managers, studio managers, and others.  Here is the bottom line: each one of these professionals had one hundred things they COULD have been doing rather than sharing information with a small, piss-ant ad agency from Gainesville, FL.  Each one of them most likely had 10-15 job tickets opened while we were sitting there with them.   You NEVER would have known that.  They were the most gracious hosts, and all of them willing to share their battle scars and war stories to help Ozean.   There is NO DOUBT that AT&T is in the right hands with this agency.  These people know the advertising business and they know how to execute.

Ozean wrapped up everything with Debbie Linder, the Chief People Person at BBDO.  I had to resist hugging her (HR people are a little sensitive about those things), but I can not thank her enough for hosting Ozean.

Frankly, I cannot figure out why BBDO agreed to meet with Ozean.  There is no REASON at all that huge agency should take the time from their top management and their specific job functions to offer any advice to us.  HOWEVER, they did, and they did it with grace and awesomeness that I have not witnessed in a long time.

How valuable was it?

We had a 6 hour car ride back, and the entire car ride was filled with discussions about work flow, responsibilities, processes, needed changes, and these discussions possessed a rejuvenated enthusiasm not seen in a long time.

Ozean Interactive Media thanks BBDO Atlanta, and Ozean hopes that one day, at some time, we can return some small favor.

PS  The only bummer of the day - I didn’t get to show off my MAD ping pong skills on BBDO’s famous ping pong table.  Next time, I am SO BEATING someone.  Challenge!

Website Launch| Remzey Samarrai | www.remzey2010.com

Ozean Interactive Media announces the launch of another quality web design and web development project www.Remzey2010.com

Republican House Candidate candidate Remzey Samarrai, running in Florida House District 22, wanted a website designed and developed that was different from most politicians’ websites. He wanted it to be visually different, wanted it to include detailed position papers on issues (most politician are afraid to tell you where they stand on the issues, aren’t they?), and wanted it to be simple to maintain.

Mission accomplished - designed differently - check, include issue papers - check, and easy to maintain - check (Ozean placed them in our easy to use, web-based, content management system so that the campaign staff can easily amend and add to the website.)  This project was also designed and developed very quickly. Once the design was approved by the client, the site was developed and launched in approximately 3 days.

Just on a side note, Ozean Consulting is a division of Ozean and is performing the role of general consultant on Remzey Samarrai’s campaign; therefore, in a precautionary move, we will include the Florida required disclaimer: “Paid Political Advertisement, Paid for and approved by Remzey Samarrai, Republican for Florida State House, District 22.”

50 Lessons Life Taught Me by Regina Brett

Monday, May 10th, 2010

I am not one for sharing sappy stuff; however, this column hit me at just the right time.

This was written by Regina Brett, columnist for the Plain Dealer, Cleveland, OH. She said, “To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 50 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I’ve ever written.”
1) Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.
2) When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3) Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4) Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
5) Pay off your credit cards every month.
6) You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7) Cry with someone. It is more healing than crying alone.
8 ) It’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9) Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10) When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11) Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.
12) It’s OK to let your children see you cry.
13) Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14) If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.
15) Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry; God doesn’t blink.
16) Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.
17) You can get through anything if you stay put in today.
18) A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.
19) It’s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20) When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.
21) Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie.
22) Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23) Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.
24) The most important sex organ is the brain.
25) No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
26) Frame every so-called disaster with these words: “In five years, will this matter?”
27) Always choose life.
28) Forgive everyone everything.
29) What other people think of you is none of your business.
30) Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31) However good or bad the situation, it will change.
32) Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will.
33) Believe in miracles.
34) God loves you for who God is, not because of anything you did or did not do.
35) Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.
36) Growing old beats the alternative - dying young.
37) Your children only get one childhood. Make it memorable.
38) Read the Psalms. They cover every human emotion.
39) Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40) If we threw our problems into a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.
41) Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
42) Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful, or joyful.
43) All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
44) Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
45) The best is yet to come.
46) No matter how you feel, get up, get dressed, and show up.
47) Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
48) If you don’t ask, you don’t get.
49) Yield.
50) Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.
